Coffee plants are one of the main crops in Sumatra which are widely cultivated by the community, including Karo Regency. Karo is one of the tribes in North Sumatra that inhabits the highlands of Karo Regency. The type of coffee developed by the karo community is a type of Arabica coffee. In general, coffee plants grow at an altitude of 500 to 2000 meters above sea level with an average temperature of 21-24O C with rainfall of 2000 – 3000 mm, and are supported by good soil structure with 3% organic matter content and Ph 5.5 – 6.5.This coffee does have a unique taste compared to coffee in general, some of the coffee cultivated in Tanah Karo is Arabica coffee that has a global taste.This type of coffee will also grow well when planted at an altitude between 1275 to 1300 meters above sea level. In addition, the interesting thing that we can find in this coffee is that this coffee has an orange flavor. This coffee has a sour taste like mixed with oranges.
